Cookie Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This page explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on koahchiropractic.com, why we use them, and how you can control them. We’ve kept this in plain English on purpose.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Sites
use them to remember things between page loads (for example, your
preferences) or to measure how the site is used. “Similar
technologies” refers to things like browser localStorage
that behave the same way.
What we use on this site
This is a small marketing site. We don’t have logins, member areas, or shopping carts, so we do not need any cookies for the site itself to function. That means there is no separate “strictly necessary” tier — if you decline, we block everything below.
1. Analytics & advertising (Google Tag — GT-5TC4FP9M)
We use a single Google tag that loads Google Analytics 4
(measurement ID G-93089NZN24) and Google Ads
(account AW-990016291). When loaded, it sets cookies such as
_ga, _ga_*, _gid, and
_gcl_au in your browser.
These cookies tell us things like how many people visit the site, which pages are popular, and whether a Google ad led to a phone call — so we can decide whether the ads are worth running. They do not identify you personally to us. They are first-party in name but the data is shared with Google under their terms.
We rely on Google Consent Mode v2: the Google tag loads on every page, but it is told not to set tracking cookies until you click Accept on the banner. If you decline, the tag sends cookieless pings to Google for aggregate counting only.
2. Reviews widget (Trustindex)
We use Trustindex to display reviews collected from Google, Facebook, and Yelp. It powers two widgets:
- A reviews block on the home page (between the Veteran-owned section and Phases of Care).
- A small floating reviews badge in the bottom-left corner of every page.
Trustindex’s loader script may set cookies to remember the state of the widget. We only load Trustindex if you click Accept; if you decline, neither widget appears.
3. Your consent choice
To remember whether you accepted or declined, we save a single value
under the key koah_consent in your browser’s
localStorage. This is first-party (only this site can read
it), it never leaves your device, and it is the only thing we store when
you decline.
How to change your choice
A “Cookie preferences” link at the bottom of
every page re-opens the banner so you can pick again. You can also clear
the koah_consent value from your browser’s site
settings, and the banner will appear next time you visit.
Independent of our banner, you can also:
- Adjust your Google ad and analytics preferences at myadcenter.google.com and safety.google/privacy/ads-and-data.
- Install Google’s Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Block all third-party cookies in your browser settings, or use a privacy-focused browser or extension.
- Send a Global Privacy Control signal — we treat it as a request to decline.
What we don’t do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles outside of Google’s ad system.
- We do not place any health-related or sensitive cookies on this site.
Changes
If we change which cookies we use, we’ll update this page and reset the banner so returning visitors are asked again.
